About this event
Join us for the fourth annual Drag Queen Story Time at the University Library, featuring returning guest Noelle Diamond, as part of the University Libraries’ Banned Books Week programming. This year’s event also coincides with LGBTQIA+ History Month, bringing together two important opportunities to celebrate the freedom to read, queer stories and the importance of access to diverse voices and experiences. We’ll begin the evening with Drag Queen Story Time featuring local drag performer Noelle Diamond, celebrating the joy, creativity and community that reading and storytelling bring. Following story time, stay for a panel discussion exploring the banning of queer literature, the censorship and challenges faced by Drag Queen Story Times and the role of advocacy and allyship in defending intellectual freedom and the freedom to read and express. Held at the intersection of Banned Books Week and LGBTQIA+ History Month, this program celebrates queer stories while creating space for conversation about censorship, representation and why protecting access to LGBTQIA+ books and programming matters. This program is made possible through the collaborative efforts of the University Libraries and the Gender & Sexuality Resource Center (GSRC). Light refreshments will be available. Registration is preferred, but not required. All are welcome. Hosted by: Gender & Sexuality Resource Center , University Libraries
